The Benue State Tenders Board was established on the 28th August, 1968. It was formerly called the State Works Registration Board. It was established on the said date with five (5) Districts Tenders Board for Jos, Keffi, Makurdi, Pankshin and Wukari respectively.
The State Works Registration at the inception had the following:
i.The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works & Survey
ii.The Senior Electrical Engineer, Ministry of Works & Survey
iii.The Senior / Chief Architect, Ministry of Works & Survey
iv.The Chief Civil Engineer
v.The Chief Commercial Officer (Ministry of Finance)
vi.Two other members (to be announced by the Governor)
The State Tenders Board as Constituted had the following membership:
i. The Commissioner for Finance
ii. The Commissioner for Works
iii. The Commissioner for Home Affairs & Information
iv. The Permanent Secretary Finance
v. The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works & Survey
Each Board was to have a Secretary who was to be appointed by the provisions of paragraph 23 (a) (iv) of the Handbook on Tenders Board.
